We are an acute care facility with a provider staffed ER. We have a swing bed program
and are re implementing surgery and implementing obstetrics.
Monahans is a rural community located 35 miles west of Odessa Texas on Interstate
20. Our economy has been primarily Petroleum based, followed by ranching. The community
has actively been working on diversification and has been very successful in the
development of the Interstate 20 corridor. We have erected our first wind-powered
wind-generators PLUS have some of the largest natural gas reserves in Texas. We are
seeing the expansion of gas powered generators with the new construction of two gas
powered plants in Odessa and an existing TXU gas powered electric generating plant
in our county.
Monahans location just outside Odessa/Midland allows for small town living with access
to Big City conveniences. Odessa/Midland (The Permian Basin) provides Minor League
Baseball, Hockey, In-Door Football, Professional Rodeo and Drag Racing along with
more cultural activities such as two Community Theaters, Symphony, two Junior Colleges,
a four year University (University of Texas of the Permian Basin, Texas Tech Health
Science Center and the Texas Tech residency program for Family Practice, Ob and Internal
Medicine.). Between Odessa and Midland is an International Airport. Like all West
Texas Communities, there is Friday Night Football (Odessa Permian is basis for the
show, Friday Night Lights). JUST A GREAT PLACE TO RAISE A FAMILY.
