All of the business operations at Ward Memorial Hospital are handled internally by a qualified and experienced team of office professionals. Ward Memorial Hospital has improved all aspects of its billing, collections, and admissions processes, which has resulted in enhanced customer service relations. The Ward Memorial Admitting personnel consists of three well trained team members, knowledgeable of the new federally mandated HIPAA privacy laws along with other state and federal regulations. The new look of the recently remodeled business office is due in part to the new HIPAA guidelines. The goal of the Billing staff is to submit hospital claims accurately and timely, ensuring better revenue flow to the hospital and minimizing patient concerns about insurance coverage and outstanding balances. Ward Memorial is a member of the CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) Part A Advisory Committee, which meets quarterly via teleconference to discuss Medicare and Medicaid issues and regulations. The purpose of the committee is to educate providers and help improve customer service relations. The Business Office is achieving the goals of Ward Memorial by utilizing the most advanced technology for electronic billing, online claim status, eligibility verification, pre-certification, and claim adjustments. Some of the on-line software used by the business office staff include TDH Connect (Texas Department of Health Online system), THIN (Texas Health Information Network) and the HMS (Healthcare Management Systems) billing software that integrates the financial and clinical systems into one. With Ward Memorial's most recent administration, the billing and collection process has greatly improved resulting in better community satisfaction. Office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. Admission / Registration hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00 am until 11:00 pm. Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 am until 4:00 pm.
