The primary goal is quality service to the patient, hospital and community. The staff strives to provide the finest, most economical services possible, while maintaining high medical, ethical, and professional standards. WMH Laboratory is accredited by CAP (College of American Pathologists). The standards by which the laboratory operates are also in compliance with CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Information Act) & Medicare. A continuous and thorough Quality Control Program is monitored in every area of the Laboratory. Enrollment in Proficiency Testing provides an external audit system of the laboratory for the extent and complexity of testing provided by WMH Laboratory.
		Services are provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The staff consists of five Medical Technologists and a Phlebotomist. The Laboratory is staffed Monday through Friday 6 AM – 11 PM, with the remainder of the time covered by call. Routine lab tests are done Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 AM and 5 PM.
				For Outpatient Laboratory Services, all patients must first register before reporting to the Laboratory for their orders to be processed. Test Results are forwarded to the patient’s Doctor. Send-Out tests are sent to Lab Corp.

		The automation of instrumentation and test menu contribute to quality patient care. Of all the tests ordered in the laboratory, 95 – 96% are completed at Ward Memorial Hospital with the rest sent to a reference laboratory.
